Dear Friends,
This is a difficult letter for me to write.
I am asking valued friends for money.
I’m running for State House in District 11. After watching the state government for the past few years and seeing the results, or lack of results of their action I felt that someone else could do better.
This community has been good for me and has been an excellent place for Barb and me to raise our four children. I would like to give back something to the community that has given my family so much. I would like to serve in the State House of Representatives.
Lots of people are encouraging me in this effort and I am committed to run the best campaign as possible. This will take money so I am asking for your financial help.
The young people of this state need support--from preschool years to when they enter the job market. They need meaningful educational opportunities and skills to compete in the professional world as well as affordable health care as they graduate and search for employment.
We need to provide rewarding opportunities for Alaskans too-- opportunities that encourage families to stay in Alaska. Grandparents should not need to travel thousands of miles to see their grandchildren. Similarly, we must find ways to honor and improve the quality of life for longtime Alaskans and senior citizens.
Most of all, I believe we will do the best for the people of Alaska if we learn to work together and get away from the political power struggles in our state government. Through unity we can all share in the rewards of our legislative efforts.
The state elections are Tuesday, November 7th, but I need your support today. Your donation will help buy the TV, radio and newspaper ads needed to inform voters about my priorities – and to win this campaign for the people of District 11.
